Titel: MSXPLAYer for Symbian Series 60  BeitragVerfasst am: 22.05.2005, 16:32 Uhr

Bazix develops advanced gaming platform for Mobile phones

GRONINGEN, May 22nd, 2005 - The Dutch company Bazix is currently developing "MSXPLAYer", an advanced emulator with which popular games from the 1980s and 1990s can be enjoyed once again on Symbian Series 60 mobile phones. MSX games are very small, making it possible to install hundreds of games on a standard mobile phone with a capacity of 32MB. MSXPLAYer furthermore distinguishes itself from ordinary JAVA games thanks to its excellent gameplay, speed and the originality of the MSX games. Where the currently available JAVA games usually are cheaply produced remakes, MSXPLAYer brings a wide range of professionally developed, high quality games to the mobile phones.

On the retrogaming event "MSX World 2005", held on May 8th in Akihabara, Tokyo (the center of the Japanese computer industry), Bazix co-founder Sander Zuidema introduced the activities of Bazix to the thousands of visitors and the Japanese press. According to Zuidema the reactions from both press and visitors were very enthusiastic. "It´s not very usual for something new to come from Europe to Japan. Usually, it´s the other way around´.

To deliver a wide range of game contents Bazix cooperates with the Japanese companies MSX Association and D4 Enterprise. On the gaming website WOOMB.net, which will be launched this year, many game titles will be offered for both Windows and mobile phones. In many cases theses games have been specially translated from Japanese to English, for the first time in history. This process also works the other way around: D4 Enterprise is to sell games translated to Japanese by Bazix in their successful webshop "Amusement Center".

The concept behind MSXPLAYer resembles the idea behind an MP3 player. With an MP3 player MP3 files can be played on a wide range of computers and mobile phones, independent of the Operating System used. MSXPLAYer is already available for Windows and Pocket PCs, while MSXPLAYers for mobile phones, Linux, Mac OS and several game consoles (Xbox, Playstation 2, ...) are currently being developed as well. These MSXPLAYers are expected to be introduced on the European market by Bazix during 2005 and 2006.

The Symbian Series 60 platform is supported by mobile phone manufactures such as Nokia, Siemens, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Sendo and Lenovo.
