From byuu.org:
Zitat: The first official release of higan has been posted. higan is the new name for bsnes, and it continues with the latter´s version numbering.
Note that as of now, bsnes still exists. It´s one of the modules distributed with higan. The bsnes name is now specific to my SNES emulator core.
higan is very different from most emulators. I strongly recommend that you read the higan user guide, even if you are already familiar with bsnes and/or higan.
Zitat: Due to last minute changes to the emulator interface, and missing support in ananke, I wasn´t able to include Cydrak´s Nintendo DS emulator dasShiny in this build, but I hope to do so in the next release.
Also, for users of bsnes v91, please note that the game folder format has changed. Unfortunately, I do not yet have a tool ready to update your game folders. So you have two options: delete all games from ~/Emulation, or wait for a new version of purify before upgrading from v91 to v92. For users of bsnes v90 and earlier, you should be able to jump right in after having read the user guide.

Note that Accuracy/Balanced/Performance ONLY applies to the SNES core.
For the DSP roms, search for "caitsith2 snes dsp".
Top Gear 3000 shows a black screen for some reason.
WinXP:
In "%APPDATA%\higan\settings.cfg", change Input::Driver to "DirectInput".
It seems that the Performance build can't load games.

I really wonder, why higan v92 has been released without having a purify update ready, without the DS emulation core and with some significant problems like the performance build not able to load games.
First release to see such significant shortcomings. |

Eigentlich nicht, sind schließlich ganz normale Hardware Rom Dumps, wie ein BIOS auch. |

The insufficient testing can be blamed on everybody with access to the WIPs... including me. I guess everybody thought that someone else was going to do it...
[quote:c6d947f6bb="byuu"]I'm very sorry, but I didn't want to delay the release while I work on purify. It's been over five months since bsnes v091, which is five times longer than any previous release since I started the project in 2004.[quote:c6d947f6bb="byuu"]Anyway, it looks like the [input driver] bug is in TDM/GCC 4.7. Compiling with TDM/GCC 4.6 lets you use RawInput.
So a compiler bug that only manifests itself on one specific operating system. Wonderful. TDM/GCC is the new Qt I guess.[quote:c6d947f6bb="byuu"]So we'll need someone to write a tool that takes a No-Intro set + firmware files, uses my database, and outputs my set.
Not a hard tool at all to make. Just need more copies of me =) |

OK, Hayazashi Nidan Morita Shougi 2 funktioniert jetzt.

What do you want me to do about it?
64-bit version works with performance just fine, I tested all special chip games and they work fine. DS core isn't mine, I have to release my changes before Cydrak can make use of them.
I tested on my systems which are all 64-bit. I don't run 32-bit, so how was I to know that MinGW-w64's -m32 option is horribly broken?
This is how these things go. When nobody tests my WIP releases, I have no choice but to release full versions in order to spot and then fix bugs. If you want a stable release, you have to help me test the unstable ones. I can only test so many configurations. Every release I make has been tested thoroughly on my systems.
Aside: there is technically a higan v091 release. So the first build worked fine |

That was nothing more than a comment wondering about a kinda bugged release compared to the previous nearly flawless releases.
Nobody was pushing you to release a new build, only your internal time plan made you do it as far as I understood.
Cydrak also should be able to work with the source and don't need to have a build version to update his core or did I misunderstood that?
And btw: if you would like to see more tests, than you could probably release WIP versions to the public, so you could get some more testers.
We would also report about them here at AEP. But I think, it would just create more work for you, because irc your compiling needs some time with all the optimized scripts. |

I did release the v091.15 WIP to the public eight days prior to v092's release.
http://board.byuu.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3573
Perhaps with higan I can start posting more WIP builds.
And yes, I am a bit pressed for time. I have two paid projects and FEoEZ to get to, and for that I need a stable release out first.
Still not there, so I guess we have some more work for v093 now before I can get to that.
I wish I could say my past releases were near flawless, but they really haven't been. There's always things that sneak in. The emulator is over 100,000 lines of pure core (not including blank lines/comments), and emulates five systems. Probably every third major release hits some big issue. |

Yeah, you're right, I'm sorry that I (we) had missed the .5 release.
But I think unstable test releases is always a great way in testing new features for/in the public. (like SCUMM or Doomsday is doing it)
Okay, probably not every release was flawless, but big steps often lead to some errors and bugs, that's okay.
I just was confused, because I was always confident about the high qualitity standards an open source project like this met in my eyes.
A standard even some commercial projects don't meet. |
