The free VGB 5.9 for Windows and Linux, a new release of my GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, and Super GameBoy emulator, is now available for download. The new release should now accept most command line options on Windows, which did not work before. I have also added "Video | Show Framerate" menu option to show current frames-per-second count on Windows. See below for all the changes.
- Refactored Windows EMULib code.
- Most command line options should now work in Windows version.
- Added "Video | Show Framerate" menu option to VGB-Windows.

I have published VGB 5.8.2 for Android, a new version of my GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, and Super GameBoy emulator, as a free APK on my web site. This release will access files via Secure Access Framework on Android10+ devices. I have also fixed opening files from external apps (such as file managers) and enabled adding home screen shortcuts on newer devices. If you like VGB, please, consider purchasing VGBAnext app from Google Play. It contains complete VGB functonality, as well as GameBoy Advance and NES emulation. See below for the complete list of changes in the new VGB release.
- Fixed handling of spaces and parentheses in "content://" URIs.
- Fixed several crash sources that popped up after refactoring.
- Fixed compatibility with Android 4.2/4.3.
- Fixed list of volumes in "Change Folder" dialog.
- Fixed "Change Folder" functionality.
- Fixed opening files from File Managers and other apps.
- Fixed file selection UI on newer AndroidTV devices.
- Fixed leaked dialog window on app exit.
- Enabled adding home screen shortcuts on newer devices.

I have released VGB 5.8 for Android this morning, a new version of my GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, and Super GameBoy emulator, as a free APK. This release is based on VGB 5.8 for Windows and Linux, published earlier this week. It comes with majorly refactored scaling and special effects framework. I have added a simple CPU-based linear interpolation scaling algorithm, used when GPU-based linear interpolation is unfeasible. There is now a new "Video | Interpolation Effect | Linear Interpolation" option in the Settings. See below for all the changes.
- Based on the latest VGB 5.8 sources.
- Refactored scaling and special effects framework.
- Added CPU-based simple linear interpolation algorithm.
- Added separate option for linear image interpolation.
PS: MasterGear Sega MasterSystem and GameGear emulator for Android is on $2.99 sale at Google Play until the end of the week.

The free VGB 5.8 for Windows and Linux, my GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, and Super GameBoy emulator, is now available for download. The new version includes majorly refactored scaling and special effects framework and a simple CPU-based linear interpolation image scaling algorithm. The CPU-based interpolation is used when it is impossible to use GPU to scale screen images. The Windows version has also got file drag'n'drop support and explicit "Video | Interpolate Video | Linear Scaling" option. The Linux version now supports "-linear" command line argument.
